A joint purchasing service enables each enterprise to enjoy the benefits of a large purchasing volume. The joint purchasing service of Suomen Tukkusähkö Oy also includes optimisation of electricity transmission and checking of the tax bracket. The joint purchasing service has helped our customers to save 5–30 % of their annual electricity costs.
The price of electricity comprises three components: the price of electrical energy, the transmission price of electricity and electricity-related taxes.
The average price of electrical energy is 39 % of the total price for electricity. On behalf of our customers, we buy electricity from the Nordic wholesale market, and because of a larger purchasing volume we can get a better price for all our customers.
Electricity is subject to value added tax. An electricity transmission bill also includes electricity tax and value added tax. The electricity tax bracket is determined according to a user’s sector of business. A wrongly determined tax bracket may cause additional annual costs of thousands of euros. Checking the electricity tax bracket is an automatic part of our joint purchasing service.
It is a common misconception that the price for electricity transmission is beyond a customer’s control. A local electricity network company is responsible for electricity transmission. Two to five alternative transmission products, which are also updated at regular intervals, are often available. Our joint purchasing service automatically includes a permanent optimisation of the transmission product with no extra charges.
